• Draw a Flower

This tutorial does not use the Pen tool at all and instead uses pentagon shapes and a circle, combined with using the Pucker and Bloat effects, Roughen effect, Tweak effect, and gradient tool to create a flower. This tutorial provides a fun way to get familiar with those tools, in addition to learning how to create this unique flower. Editor note: I created the flower to the right to test this tutorial. • Drawing a Vase in Illustrator
  Very basic instructions for using Illustrator's 3D effects to create vases simply and quickly using Illustrator's 3D rendering. It's just a matter of drawing a line and using Illustrator's 3D tool to render the vase - Illustrator creates the 3D version based on that single line. Good introductory tutorial for trying out 3D rendering in Illustrator. Editor note: I created the vases to the right to test this tutorial. • Drawing the Latest with Adobe Illustrator CS3
  Video interview with Phil Guindi, Product Manager for Adobe Illustrator CS3 with demonstration of new and improved features in Illustrator CS3 - such as Live Trace, working with vectors and “wires” within Illustrator, along with differences between Illustrator and Photoshop, such as scalability without image loss, easier to use ActionScript with Illustrator than with Photoshop. About 6 minutes into the interview, Phil talks about and demonstrates new and improved features of Illustrator CS3 using a scanned hand-drawn image as an example - Live Trace, picking anchor points now provides a magnification when you hover on it so you know which one you've picked, and even explains how anchor points work, new anchor points preferences (such as choosing to have larger or smaller anchor points), more information in the top bar for anchor points and controls. Flash integration much improved in CS3. Symbols in Illustrator now more similar to symbols in Flash. Shows the new knowhow help, too, which is context sensitive.
